Candiace Dillard Bassett is embracing her new era!
The former Real Housewives of Potomac star, 37, got all glammed up to host the GRAMMYs on the Hill Awards days after announcing she is expecting her first child with husband Chris Bassett, 46.
The singer was all smiles as she posed on the red carpet wearing a red off-the-shoulder one-sleeve gown at the Tuesday, April 30 event held at the Hamilton Live in Washington, D.C.
The sophisticated floor-length dress, worn with a sparkly silver bracelet, perfectly accentuated Candiace’s growing baby bump. The expectant mother’s makeup included a rosey pink eyeshadow and a glossy lip.
Before the event, the mom-to-be uploaded an Instagram Story video from rehearsals where she shared that she was “super excited” for her big night.
“The Recording Academy is always doing amazing things, but this is super cool to be proud of,” added Candiace.
According to a press release, the GRAMMYs on the Hill Awards are “Washington’s premier annual celebration of music and advocacy, bringing together congressional leaders and music makers to recognize those who have led the fight for creators’ rights.” This year’s honorees include country superstar Sheryl Crow and Senators John Cornyn and Amy Klobuchar.
Candiace shared in a sit-down with Entertainment Tonight published on April 15, that she is “about 13 weeks” and “just about into the second trimester.”
“It’s been weird, but also really wonderful, I think, to keep it kind of to ourselves to this point… It’s just been, like, kind of quietly just growing a bun,” she added.
While Candiace underwent in vitro fertilization (IVF) in January to conceive, she admitted to the outlet that she previously had anxiety over wondering if she was ready to be a mother.
“I kind of woke up and realized that I was never going to be 100 percent ready. I just had to … trust the process and trust my doctors and stop being afraid and just do it,” said Candiace. “So once we decided together that we were going to do that — together — it just was kind of all moving by faith from there.”
Her pregnancy news comes after PEOPLE exclusively reported that she would be leaving RHOP after six seasons.
