9-1-1: Lone Star is returning for a fifth season this fall, but it may be its last.
As production on the Fox scripted drama continues, Deadline reports that series regular Sierra McClain has left the series, contributing to growing speculation the series is coming to a close. McClain, 30, stars as 9-1-1 operator Grace Ryder.
The series will return with a 12-episode season after taking a hiatus due to strike-related production delays.
A representative for the show did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for more information on Friday.
In May, Fox Entertainment CEO Rob Wade told Deadline that there was a hope that the network would make a renewal decision after the fifth season aired this fall. However, the outlet reported that the renewal decision would likely be made before the fall premiere.
“Lone Star was not on the schedule this year because of the strike, and we’re really looking forward to getting it back on in the fall,” Wade said during Fox’s upfront call in May. “We are excited about the new season. We’re going to see how that goes as always, and then make decisions on that about the future of that franchise.”
Additionally, Deadline reports that sources have shared the cast has been given a “take it or leave it” situation when it comes to their contracts. The outlet reports that McClain went back and forth with the studio before ultimately deciding to leave the series.
Along with McClain’s reported departure and the show’s possible conclusion, Deadline reports Robyn Lively previously shared in a now-deleted Instagram post a tribute to the “final season” of the series. Lively, 52, stars as Marlene Harris, the mother of Judd’s (Jim Parrack) son. (McClain’s Grace is Judd’s wife.)
The series, a spinoff of 9-1-1 (which moved to ABC), follows Owen Strand (Rob Lowe), the captain of a fledgling Austin, Texas firehouse alongside his son, T.K. (Ronen Rubinstein).
Alongside Lowe, 60, Rubinstein, 30, Parrack and McClain, the series stars Gina Torres, Natacha Karam, Brian Michael Smith, Rafael Silva, Julian Works, Kelsey Yates, Skyler Yates and Brianna Baker.
