A Cat Lover’s Festival in NYC

I’m so excited to be attending Jackson Galaxy’s Cat Camp soon — and I hope I’ll see you there, too!

Cat Camp, held June 1–2, 2019, at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood, is an immersive experience for cat lovers featuring a summer camp–like atmosphere with an on-site cat cafe, cat yoga, arts and crafts, speakers and workshops, vendors, and more.

You can go to Cat Camp for one day, or go crazy like me and attend both days.

Now in its 3rd year, the annual event is hosted (and was co-founded) by cat behavior expert Jackson Galaxy of Animal Planet’s My Cat From Hell.

Cat Camp’s other co-founder is Christina Ha, who is a co-owner of NYC’s first renowned cat cafe, Meow Parlour.

Both Galaxy and Ha will be at the event, along with many other special guests, such as:

  • Hannah Shaw (a.k.a. the Kitten Lady), a kitten rescue advocate and social media star with nearly 1 million followers on Instagram and 750,000 subscribers on YouTube
  • Kate Benjamin of Hauspanther, a site specializing in chic cat furniture
  • Andrew Marttila, the country’s premier cat photographer
  • And Nikki Martinez of @myfosterkittens

Hanna Shaw (a.k.a. the Kitten Lady), left, will again be at Jackson Galaxy’s Cat Camp this year.

New this year, thanks to the support of the Petco Foundation, Petco’s nonprofit organization dedicated to animal welfare, general admission tickets for Cat Camp ($25 for adults, $15 for children ages 6–15, kids under 6 free with an adult who has purchased an adult ticket) will include access to all talks and presentations.

Therefore, every attendee will have access to information and the ability to learn the tools to become better cat caretakers, lovers and advocates.

Topics include fostering, tips for improving your cat photos, how to play with cats and even a kitten-condo-making class.

Cat Yoga at Jackson Galaxy's Cat Camp
Cat yoga is always a huge hit at Jackson Galaxy’s Cat Camp — tickets sell out quickly.

There will also be plenty of adoptable kittens and cats on site to swoon over. And although cat yoga is sold out, there are plenty of time slots still available to book 45-minute playtime sessions with kittens in the on-site cat cafe.

The feline-focused festival, which first took place in 2017, was created to bring cat lovers of all kinds together under one roof.

As a result of the 2018 event, animal rescue groups placed 75 cats who were featured in the adoption area into loving “furever” homes, and more than $10,000 was raised for the nonprofit groups involved.

See you there!
