Through December 31st: Solar Cat
If you’re interested in renewable energy and just happen to be a cat lover, check out Solar Cat: The Cutest Solar Panel Ever Made. Located in the Upper Level, Tech Gallery at New York Hall of Science, the exhibit centers around a giant, 140-watt cat-shaped solar panel mounted to the window. The energy harvested by the panel powers an adjacent interactive pedestal featuring fun facts and diagrams about how solar panels work. You can flip a switch to send Solar Cat’s harvested energy to power up a model house. You can also charge your cell phone using one of two built-in USB ports powered by Solar Cat. This fun exhibit educates visitors about solar technology and also demonstrates how creativity and design can push technology to be more accessible. Get more information here.
