Two months ago, Saving Grace Rescue (an all-volunteer cat rescue in California) was contacted about a pair of bonded kittens needing help.

“They came into the shelter at about four weeks old with ringworm,” Amber, founder of Saving Grace Rescue, told Love Meow. “That morning, Joyce, a foster volunteer, jokingly asked for ginger kittens and those two popped up.”

Joyce was thrilled to help the two kitties and named them Ruth and Ginsburg. The kittens quickly settled into their foster home and were so please to have a dedicated caretaker to cater to their every need.

Despite having to go through daily treatment for ringworm, the kittens were always in good spirits. “We have been bathing and applying cream on them to help resolve their health issue,” Joyce shared with Love Meow.

The feline siblings were very playful and curious from the start. They would follow their foster mom around the room whenever she came in.

Ginsburg wasn’t gaining weight at the beginning. His sister Ruthie would keep him company, insisting on doing everything he did to cheer him up. When Ginsburg hopped onto the scale for a weight-in, little Ruthie would follow suit, trying to be next to her brother.

The kittens are never shy of voicing their many opinions. Ginsburg is the talker and the one who starts morning conversations with their foster mom. If he wants attention and love, he will make sure to get his voice heard.

Even when they were a few weeks old, Ginsburg and Ruthie were already little mischief-makers, constantly on the lookout for trouble. Joyce often found them trying to wrestle with her feet. She had to walk around the room with two clingy kitties wrapped around her legs with all fours.

The feline siblings share a very close bond. “They always have each other’s back. When I held one kitten to feed, the other one would try to crawl up my leg to ‘help’.”

After a long road of treatment and care, the kittens have fully recovered and are growing by leaps and bounds. They have cute, healthy, round bellies to show off, and a lot of unbridled energy to be used for creating antics around the house.

“Ginsburg will let you know when he needs love. He’ll go up to my husband when he is working, and sit in front of him and meow his heart out so he can get picked up,” Joyce shared with Love Meow.

“Ruthie is daring and always the first to try everything. She was the first one to attempt to escape (her playpen) by jumping on the gate. She loves to explore.

“Her latest accomplishment was to win the love of our resident cat Queen Skittles, with her perseverance.”

The bonded pair is finally ready for their next chapter of life. Ginsburg and Ruth are looking for a forever home together so they will never be part.

Hector the resident cat taught the kittens how to be a proper ginger.
