One dog has found his fur-ever home thanks to the determination of a dedicated adopter.

A man named Drew arrived hours early to a Clear the Shelters event recently held at Austin Pets Alive! in Texas in order to ensure he could adopt a specific dog he had bonded with days prior.

“I’m here to see Julius, he’s a 2-year-old Shepherd mix, and I can’t wait to see him again,” Drew details at the start of a clip shared by Austin Pets Alive! that documented his adoption journey.

Then explaining that he arrived at the establishment “two-ish hours early, give or take,” the man continues, “I want him to come home with me.”

Drew can next be seen in the video completing the adoption process with his partner.

“My partner and I came on Sunday, got to hang out with [Julius] for a half-hour or so, got to know him a little bit, and I came here today with the intention today of adopting Julius — and I can’t wait,” he says excitedly.

Video footage later shows Drew and his partner meeting with Julius after the adoption process was finished. The pup is captured running up to his new pet parents, wagging his tail and playfully jumping on them to give them kisses.

Drew, his partner and Julius then posed for a series of photographs toward the end of the clip, before the video ended with footage of the trio leaving the Clear the Shelters event together.

In the caption of their post, Austin Pets Alive! wrote, “We’re not crying you’re crying 😭,” before revealing that Julius has since been renamed Bumi by his new owners.

“Thank you for showing up for Central Texas animals and making pets like Bumi’s dreams come true! 🧡,” the organization added.

Clear the Shelters, according to its website, is “a nationwide pet adoption and donation campaign that helps find loving homes for animals in need.”

“More than 1 million pets have found their forever homes since 2015,” the group adds.
