Alana Springsteen is pushing herself out of her comfort zone!
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE on the red carpet at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards on Thursday, Sept. 26 in Nashville, the singer-songwriter, 23, opened up about trying new things outside of music after having teamed up with electronic music producer Tiesto for her summer hit “Hot Honey.”
“I’m constantly trying new things,” Springsteen says. “I’m starting to golf a little bit. I’m not athletic at all, but I love picking up new sports and trying new things. So that’s been a fun adventure.”
The “Goodbye Looks Good on You” artist — who grew up “fishing on a pier” — shares that she recently went on an excursion on a boat where she “caught my first big fish.”
“So that was a lot of fun,” she adds.
Springsteen goes on to say that she challenges herself to “try new things” every day and relates it back to her experience as a musician.

“In the writing room, I want to be pushing myself too,” the singer says. “I’m so excited for this next era I’m about to introduce. It’s been really hard to keep it a secret.”
Speaking about her recent collaboration with Tiesto, Springsteen calls it a “cool opportunity to kind of infuse his world and love what I do” before expressing her happiness at the single’s success.

The “Girlfriend” performer is currently touring the United States and is set to do three shows in Australia in 2025.
Last year, she spoke with PEOPLE in an exclusive interview about her debut album Twenty Something and navigating her successes as a young woman.
“The past two years have been so eye-opening. I’ve been on this journey of really getting to know myself, and your 20s can be an emotional rollercoaster,” Springsteen said. “There’s a lot of things that happen. You’re taking chances, really getting to know yourself for the first time. And I’ve just been writing my way through it.”
In August, she recorded an NPR Tiny Desk concert, in which she performed four songs “Ghost in my Guitar” – which she originally duetted with Chris Stapleton – “Hot Honey,” “Feels Good,” and the title track “Twenty Something.”
The 2024 PCCAs will air live on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 8 p.m. ET/PT across NBC and Peacock from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.
