Sarah J. Maas is one of the buzziest authors in the book world, but now is Spotify’s top author as well!

The bestselling author of the acclaimed A Court of Thorns and Roses series was officially named Spotify’s first-ever Global Top Author. In a video posted to Instagram Dec. 9 by the music streaming service, Maas shared an exclusive message for her Spotify fans to celebrate.

“I am thrilled to be the top author for this year’s Spotify Wrapped,” the author said. She also touched upon what she thinks makes a good audiobook.

“Honestly, I think it comes down to whether or not the narrator is a fan of the book that they’re reading,” Maas said. “I’ve seen fans embracing the narrators of my audiobooks, Elizabeth Evans, who I adore. People have come up to her on the street recognizing her.”

“She’s actually in the process of re-recording all of the ACOTAR audiobooks, to be released with the 10th anniversary of ACOTAR this spring,” the author added.

Maas also teased what readers can expect from the highly-anticipated next book in the series. THe first installment debuted in 2015 and follows teenager Feyre Archeron, who joins the faerie continent of Prythian. The fifth book, A Court of Silver Flames, centers on Feyre’s sister, Nesta.

“No surprise, it’s going to be a long book,” Maas said of the upcoming novel. “It’s too early for me to tell you who it will be about, and what’s going to happen, but I hope to have more details for you soon.”

This year, Spotify released its statistics for its audiobook branch for the first time. Lists for the 2024 Top Mystery and Thriller Audiobooks and the Best Page to Screen Adaptations dropped on Dec. 4. Maas’s novels A Court of Mist and Fury, A Court of Wings and Ruin and A Court of Thornes and Roses all appeared on Spotify’s Top Audiobooks of 2024 list.
