John Mulaney and his daughter Méi June are getting in some quality bonding time!
On Monday, Dec. 16, the comedian attended the opening of his show ALL IN: Comedy About Love in New York City and revealed the fun way his daughter with wife Olivia Munn celebrated her recent 3-month birthday.
“We had some crinkly paper that had black and white on it, which is a really good contrast to 3-month-old eyes, put her hand on it and then she was playing with it herself,” Mulaney, 42, tells PEOPLE.
He also shared that he’s been soaking in as much time with his little one as he can in between work and even tapping into his own styling skills when it comes to dressing Méi up for events.
“I got home from the show last night at about 11 p.m., and [the] good thing about a 3-month-old is she’s up,” he recalls. “So I held her for a couple of hours, and then this morning we put a bow on her head. She had no choice.”
A crinkled piece of paper wasn’t the only gift the 3-month-old got. Mulaney also revealed that he got his little one some precious time with actor Richard Kind in a recent Instagram post. In the snap, Kind, 68, could be seen making a crying face while he held Méi, who seemed calm.
“Happy three month birthday my little plum. I got you Richard Kind as a gift,” Mulaney captioned the post, as Munn jokingly added, “One of these two people is on Broadway right now with John.”

The actress also shared a glimpse into her and Mulaney’s life so far with their daughter, whom they welcomed via surrogate in September, on Instagram last week. She posted a video of herself and Méi cuddling by a fireplace, along with photos of several family moments ahead of the holidays.
In one clip, the mom of two asks the 3-month-old if she can say “hello” before picking her up and marveling at her cuteness. “You’re so cute. You’re so chunky and cute,” she could be seen telling her daughter before giving her several smooches.
Another video in the tribute showed Méi’s older brother, Munn and Mulaney’s son Malcolm Hiệp, sharing a silly moment with his little sister. “Is she coughing?” Malcolm, 3, could be seen asking in the clip as Munn replied that she’s just “making little sounds.”
The siblings could also be seen cuddling in a chair in one photo and getting in some bonding time side-by side. Munn also included a shot of herself holding Méi and standing with Malcolm by the family’s Christmas tree and Méi wearing cozy winter gear.
“The past three months 🥰,” she captioned the post.
Munn let Méi help her get ready to attend the Broadway premiere of her husband’s show. The pair sat together in the makeup chair with Munn writing, “Trying to get as dewy as Méi.”
Munn and Mulaney posed together after the show, with The Newsroom star writing, “So proud of this Broadway baby.”
